In keeping with my previous post, Mince and Vegetable Pasties, I decided to finish off the pastry sheets I had with a little treat for hubby for breakfast. He is always rushing out the door and never has time to eat before he leaves so he either misses breakfast or stops at Maccas on his way to work (which is neither healthy for him nor good on our bank balance). I have started looking for easy breakfasts he can take and eat on his way to work. So far, all I have come up with are cheese and bacon pull apart loaves or raisin bread. I thought I would give something like this a go and see how he liked them. While they are not the healthiest option either, they are good for a treat every now and then.
They were super easy to make and I am happy to report that he came home yesterday and said ‘Those pastry things were beautiful!’
2 sheets of puff pastry
Spread vegemite over pastry.
Sprinkle cheese over the top.
Sprinkle bacon and cheese on the pastry. (I did just a line across the end because that is all the bacon I had but if you would like more cheese and bacon in them spread it over the whole pastry.)
Roll up pastry.
Cut into 4 cm slices.
Spray baking tray with cooking spray.
Place each piece on it’s side on the tray and sprinkle some more cheese on top.
Cook for 20 minutes (depending on your oven) or until cheese is melted and pastry is golden.
I think these would be great for an every now and then treat for B1 and B2 also.
They are also good to freeze for another day.
My next task is to find some healthy, easy, breakfasts that are able to be eaten on the go.
